Role: DB2 DBA
We are seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator to support our DB2 LUW v11 environments on Linux and AIX. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing, maintaining, and optimizing DB2 databases, along with solid scripting skills for automation. Knowledge of PostgreSQL is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily system health checks, ensuring backups succeed and databases have sufficient space.
  • Deploy and configure new DB2 servers and databases as required.
  • Apply DB2 fix packs and patches as released or required.
  • Implement and manage DB2 Native Encryption for database security.
  • Collaborate with application support teams to resolve performance issues.
  • Write and maintain shell scripts for automation and maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in planning and preparing for the upgrade to DB2 v12.
  • Provide support or coverage for PostgreSQL environments if experienced.

Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience administering DB2 LUW (preferably v10 or v11) on Linux and/or AIX.
  • Strong understanding of DB2 internals — storage, logs, buffer pools, table spaces, backup/restore, and performance tuning.
  • Experience applying DB2 fix packs, patches, and performing upgrades.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash or similar) on Unix/Linux systems.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve performance issues using DB2 tools (Explain, Snapshot, Event Monitor).
  • Knowledge of database encryption, specifically DB2 Native Encryption.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Willingness to work mid-shift hours and provide off-hours support when needed.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL administration and performance tuning.
