Position Overview

We are looking for an exceptional 
Lead Mobile Engineer
 to take technical ownership of a large, Android and iOS application used globally by our client. This is not a typical mobile role — the apps involve RFID, NFC, Bluetooth hardware, barcode/QR scanning, native camera integrations, advanced UI frameworks, and a hybrid tech stack spanning Java, Kotlin, C/C++ (NDK), Objective-C, and Swift.

We are looking for a very experienced, highly technical candidate and with excellent communication skills. You will collaborate directly with international stakeholders, guide the modernization of legacy modules, and ensure both apps continue to evolve into stable, maintainable, modern platforms.

This role suits someone who thrives in complex environments, enjoys both deep technical work and architectural decision-making, and communicates clearly and confidently in English.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Ownership

• Lead development across 
  both Android and iOS
   applications.
• Maintain, improve, and modernize complex legacy modules (Objective-C controllers, Java code, NDK libraries).
• Drive architectural decisions and ensure code quality across the entire mobile stack.

Android Development

• Work with Android SDK (Target 36 / Min 29), Java 17, and NDK (C/C++).
• Extend and maintain modules built with ML Kit, CameraX, WorkManager, AndroidX, Biometrics
  ,
  NFC, and Google Play Services.
• Manage complex Gradle (Groovy DSL) build pipelines, product flavors (dev/qa/prod), and local modules.
• Implement features like RFID scanning, barcode detection, camera functionality, image processing, and mapping.

iOS Development

• Own a hybrid codebase built in Objective-C (legacy) and Swift (modern).
• Work with Apple frameworks including Core Data, Core Location, AVFoundation, NFC, Bluetooth
  ,
  Biometrics, and scanning technologies.
• Maintain and modernize CocoaPods dependencies and Xcode workspace structure.
• Integrate with RFID/Bluetooth devices via TSLAsciiCommands and other specialized frameworks.

Integration & Communication

• Work closely with international teams and product owners.
• Translate complex business requirements into stable, scalable mobile features.
• Communicate progress, risks, and solutions clearly and proactively.

Requirements
Must-Have Technical Skills

• 7+ years of professional mobile development experience
   (combined Android + iOS).
• Very strong 
  Android
   development experience (Java, Android SDK, AndroidX, Gradle).
• Solid 
  iOS
   development experience (Swift + experience maintaining Objective-C).
• Hands-on experience with:
• Native hardware integrations (RFID, NFC, Bluetooth)
• Camera frameworks (CameraX, AVFoundation)
• ML Kit barcode scanning
• Mapping & GPS
• Data synchronization (WorkManager, background tasks)
• Experience with native C/C++ code on Android (NDK).
• Strong experience handling large legacy codebases.

Must-Have Non-Technical Skills

• Excellent English communication
   (verbal and written).
• Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with international stakeholders.
• Maturity to make architectural decisions and explain them clearly.

Nice to Have

• Experience with advanced UI components (Lottie, custom UI controls, animations).
• Experience with GreenDAO, ModelMapper, Retrofit, Alamofire, or similar libraries.
• Previous exposure to multi-environment build pipelines (dev/qa/prod).
• Experience in modernization or migration projects.
