Job Description – Head Merchandiser (Bra Manufacturing)
Position Overview
The Head Merchandiser in a bra manufacturing company oversees the entire merchandising process—from product development to delivery—ensuring that designs meet market trends, quality standards, and customer requirements. This role bridges the gap between design, production, and sales, while managing timelines, costs, and supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Planning
Collaborate with design teams to develop bra collections aligned with market trends and brand positioning.
- Analyze market data, competitor products, and customer feedback to guide product direction.
Approve fabric, trims, and accessories ensuring comfort, durability, and aesthetic appeal.
Merchandising & Coordination
Create and manage seasonal merchandising calendars and critical paths.
- Coordinate with suppliers, factories, and internal teams to ensure timely sample development and bulk production.
Monitor production quality and ensure compliance with brand and regulatory standards.
Costing & Negotiation
Prepare cost sheets and negotiate prices with vendors to meet target margins.
Optimize sourcing strategies to balance quality, cost, and lead time.
Team Leadership & Communication
Lead and mentor the merchandising team, ensuring smooth workflow and clear communication.
Liaise between design, production, quality control, and sales departments.
Quality & Compliance
Ensure all bras meet fit, comfort, and durability standards.
- Oversee compliance with ethical sourcing, sustainability, and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising, Textile Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of merchandising experience in lingerie or intimate apparel, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of bra construction, fabrics, trims, and fit requirements.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in merchandising software, MS Office, and production tracking tools.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
