Sta. Cruz, Zambales (exploration/mining site) / Clark, Pampanga (office-based reporting as needed)
Reports To:
Mining Manager / Exploration Manager / General Manager
Job Summary:
The Geologist is responsible for conducting geological studies, mapping, sampling, and analysis to support mineral exploration and mining operations. This role plays a critical part in identifying mineral deposits, ensuring accurate geological assessments, and providing technical input for the safe and efficient extraction of resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exploration & Surveying
- Conduct geological mapping, surface sampling, and drilling supervision at exploration and mining sites.
- Collect, record, and analyze rock, soil, and core samples to determine mineral content and ore potential.
- Use GIS, GPS, and other mapping technologies to document findings.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Interpret geological data to create models of ore deposits.
- Prepare technical reports, maps, cross-sections, and exploration updates for management and regulatory bodies.
- Assist in the preparation of feasibility studies and reserve/resource estimates.
- Mining Operations Support
- Provide geological input during drilling, blasting, and ore extraction.
- Monitor ore grade control to maximize resource utilization.
- Work closely with engineers, metallurgists, and mining managers to optimize production.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure geological work complies with DENR-MGB requirements and other regulatory standards.
- Support environmental monitoring and rehabilitation plans related to exploration and mining.
- Follow safety protocols during fieldwork and site activities.
- Coordination & Communication
- Liaise with contractors, laboratory services, and government agencies for exploration and mining activities.
- Present findings and recommendations to management.
- Provide technical assistance during audits and inspections.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geology (Licensed Geologist; PRC license required in the Philippines).
- At least 2–5 years of experience in mineral exploration, mining, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of ore deposits, structural geology, and mineralogy (preferably copper ore, nickel, and chromite for Zambales region).
- Proficient in geological mapping, core logging, and use of exploration software (e.g., Shurpac, AutoCAD, GIS).
- Knowledge of DENR-MGB mining regulations and reporting requirements.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
- Physically fit and willing to work in remote field locations.
