Key Responsibilities:
  1. Customer Service:

  2. Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.

  3. Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff.
  4. Provide information about pharmacy services, medication, and other health-related questions (within scope).
  5. Schedule appointments for vaccinations or consultations.
  6. Assist customers in picking up prescriptions and explaining basic details such as medication usage and side effects (as directed by the pharmacist).
  7. Administrative Tasks:

  8. Manage the front desk area, ensuring it is clean, organized, and welcoming.

  9. Handle patient records and update databases accurately, ensuring privacy and confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
  10. Process insurance information, billing, and payments.
  11. Confirm prescriptions, verify insurance details, and process prescription refills.
  12. Assist with inventory management by tracking stock and ensuring necessary items are ordered.
  13. Maintain a tidy and efficient pharmacy environment by coordinating with pharmacy staff.
  14. Data Entry & Documentation:

  15. Enter patient data and prescription orders into the pharmacy management system.

  16. Assist pharmacists with prescription verification and provide necessary documentation.
  17. Keep track of any special requests or concerns from patients for follow-up.
  18. Inventory & Stock Management:

  19. Monitor inventory levels for over-the-counter medications and supplies.

  20. Assist in ordering and restocking pharmacy products.
  21. Assist in the return and disposal of expired medications.
  22. Coordination with Pharmacy Staff:

  23. Communicate effectively with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other team members to ensure smooth workflow.

  24. Help with basic tasks in filling prescriptions under the direction of a pharmacist.
  25. Ensure patients receive their medications in a timely manner.
  26. Compliance and Safety:

  27. Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations in the pharmacy.

  28. Follow all policies and procedures related to medication handling and storage.
  29. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to data protection policies.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Education: Certificate in pharmacy technology or administration.
  • Experience: Previous experience in customer service or administrative roles, preferably in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with pharmacy management software, Microsoft Office, and basic computer skills.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in data entry, prescription verification, and managing inventory.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, stay organized, and maintain a professional and efficient front desk area.
  • Knowledge of Pharmacy Terms: Basic understanding of medical terminology, medications, and healthcare practices is a plus.
  • Confidentiality: Understanding of privacy laws and patient confidentiality standards.
