Key Responsibilities:Customer Service:
Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff.
- Provide information about pharmacy services, medication, and other health-related questions (within scope).
- Schedule appointments for vaccinations or consultations.
- Assist customers in picking up prescriptions and explaining basic details such as medication usage and side effects (as directed by the pharmacist).
Administrative Tasks:
Manage the front desk area, ensuring it is clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Handle patient records and update databases accurately, ensuring privacy and confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
- Process insurance information, billing, and payments.
- Confirm prescriptions, verify insurance details, and process prescription refills.
- Assist with inventory management by tracking stock and ensuring necessary items are ordered.
- Maintain a tidy and efficient pharmacy environment by coordinating with pharmacy staff.
Data Entry & Documentation:
Enter patient data and prescription orders into the pharmacy management system.
- Assist pharmacists with prescription verification and provide necessary documentation.
- Keep track of any special requests or concerns from patients for follow-up.
Inventory & Stock Management:
Monitor inventory levels for over-the-counter medications and supplies.
- Assist in ordering and restocking pharmacy products.
- Assist in the return and disposal of expired medications.
Coordination with Pharmacy Staff:
Communicate effectively with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other team members to ensure smooth workflow.
- Help with basic tasks in filling prescriptions under the direction of a pharmacist.
- Ensure patients receive their medications in a timely manner.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations in the pharmacy.
- Follow all policies and procedures related to medication handling and storage.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to data protection policies.
- Education: Certificate in pharmacy technology or administration.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service or administrative roles, preferably in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with pharmacy management software, Microsoft Office, and basic computer skills.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy in data entry, prescription verification, and managing inventory.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, stay organized, and maintain a professional and efficient front desk area.
- Knowledge of Pharmacy Terms: Basic understanding of medical terminology, medications, and healthcare practices is a plus.
- Confidentiality: Understanding of privacy laws and patient confidentiality standards.
