Reports To: Finance Manager / CEO
Job Summary:
The Accounting Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate financial records of the company, ensuring timely preparation of internal financial reports, and overseeing compliance with all relevant tax and regulatory requirements, particularly those of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). This role is essential in supporting the financial health and accountability of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Recording & Transaction Management
- Record day-to-day financial transactions, including sales, purchases, disbursements, and receipts
- Maintain and update the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers (accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, etc.)
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash positions
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting entries and supporting documentation
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly financial reports (e.g., income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Support budget preparation, variance analysis, and financial forecasting
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes
Tax & BIR Compliance
- Prepare and file all BIR-required tax returns, including but not limited to:
- VAT (2550M/2550Q)
- Withholding Tax (1601C, 1601E)
- Expanded Withholding Tax and Certificates (2307)
- Quarterly and Annual Income Tax Returns (1702Q, 1702, SAWT, Alphalist)
- Ensure proper maintenance and registration of books of accounts (manual or computerized)
- Monitor tax deadlines and ensure full and timely compliance with all regulatory requirements
Audit Support & Documentation
- Maintain organized and complete financial records and source documents
- Assist in internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and reports
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and government agencies as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related field
- At least 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in an SME setting
- Familiarity with Philippine tax laws and BIR processes
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP B1, or local systems like QNE)
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy

Working Conditions:
- Office-based role with standard business hours
- Occasional overtime during tax filing periods or month-end closings
