Job Summary:
Responsible for assisting in the preparation, production, and presentation of high-quality pastry and bakery items in accordance with the standards set by the Pastry Chef. Ensures that all assigned duties are completed efficiently, maintaining consistency, creativity, and adherence to food safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and produce quality pastry and bakery products in a timely and efficient manner for guests and staff.
- Execute recipes and menu specifications as directed by the Chef de Partie or Pastry Chef.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the work area at all times, following hotel and food safety standards.
- Monitor and control food stock, storage, and cost in the assigned pastry section.
- Assist in daily mise-en-place, production, and plating for the pastry kitchen, including cakes, breads, desserts, and other baked goods.
- Follow instructions and recommendations from immediate superiors to ensure timely completion of daily tasks.
- Maintain high standards and consistency in product quality while staying updated on new recipes, techniques, and presentation trends.
- Coordinate with other kitchen sections to ensure smooth operations, cleanliness, and minimal wastage.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP and hotel standards on food handling and preparation.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Pastry Chef or management.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of Food & Beverage Services Management, Culinary Arts, Hospitality/Tourism/Hotel Management, or a related course.
- At least two (2) years of relevant experience in a hotel pastry kitchen or first-class bakery/patisserie.
- Strong knowledge of pastry preparation, baking, and decoration techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
- Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willing to be assigned to any Astoria property.
- Can start immediately.
