The Pastry Chef is responsible for preparing and creating high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods that meet the café's standards for taste, presentation, and consistency. This role includes recipe development, production, and maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, bake, and decorate pastries, breads, and desserts daily.
- Develop new recipes and seasonal dessert items to enhance the menu.
- Ensure all products are consistent in quality, taste, and presentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen and storage areas.
- Monitor inventory and request supplies as needed while minimizing waste.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards at all times (HACCP compliant).
- Work with the kitchen team to ensure smooth coordination during service.
- Train and guide junior staff or assistants when required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of pastry, dessert, and baking techniques.
- Creativity and attention to detail in plating and presentation.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with good communication skills.
Preferred:
- Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts, Pastry, or Baking.
