The Role: System Administrator

We are looking for a skilled and driven System Administrator to join our dynamic IT team at Gatestone Philippines. This role demands strong expertise in network engineering and systems infrastructure, supporting a high-availability environment across data centers, cloud platforms, and enterprise networks.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, self-motivated, and thrives in a fast-paced, globally distributed team. You will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing our IT infrastructure to ensure seamless operations and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

Network Administration

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure enterprise network infrastructure across multiple locations.
  • Configure and manage firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco), routers, switches, and SD-WAN solutions.
  • Monitor and optimize WAN, LAN, MPLS, and SD-WAN environments for performance and capacity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and performance issues across sites.
  • Develop and enforce network policies, security configurations, and maintain technical documentation.
  • Manage routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and troubleshoot across OSI model layers.
  • Utilize tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, SYSLOG servers, SNMP, and Wireshark for network analysis.
  • Ensure network redundancy, high availability, and SLA compliance.
  • Lead incident response during network outages or critical failures to minimize downtime

Infrastructure Management

  • Administer and maintain virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Manage domain controllers and Active Directory across multiple sites.
  • Oversee AWS and Azure infrastructure, including VMs, VDI/Workspaces, storage, and networking.
  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL databases with a focus on performance, backups, and security.
  • Support Microsoft 365 services: Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Group Policy.
  • Monitor system/server health to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Design and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Maintain detailed infrastructure documentation and generate performance reports.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience:

  • Minimum 6+ years in a combined network and systems infrastructure role.

  • Technical Proficiency:

  • Virtualization: VMware, Hyper-V

  • Firewalls: Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco
  • Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure
  • Databases & Storage: SQL Server, SAN/MSA solutions
  • Networking: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, SD-WAN
  • Microsoft Technologies: Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Office 365
  • Monitoring Tools: SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across end-to-end infrastructure
