Job Summary:The NICU Nurse provides specialized nursing care to critically ill or premature newborn infants who require intensive medical attention. The nurse monitors vital signs, administers medications, assists in procedures, and ensures that each infant receives safe, compassionate, and high-quality care in coordination with neonatologists and other healthcare professionals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to newborns in the NICU according to established protocols and physician orders.
- Monitor and record infants' vital signs, oxygen levels, and responses to treatment.
- Administer prescribed medications, fluids, and nutrition via appropriate routes (IV, oral, tube feeding).
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as incubators, ventilators, and infusion pumps.
- Assist physicians during medical procedures and resuscitation efforts.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation of patient care and progress.
- Communicate effectively with parents and educate them on infant care and condition updates.
- Ensure adherence to infection control and hospital safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Participate in continuous training and professional development in neonatal care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- License: Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with valid PRC license
- Experience: Preferably with experience in NICU or pediatric care
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
