The Plantation Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the plantation, ensuring the effective cultivation, harvesting, processing, and management of crops while maximizing productivity, profitability, and sustainability. The role involves managing labor, resources, compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and maintaining the overall health of the estate.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Management

• Oversee daily plantation operations including land preparation, planting, fertilization, pest/disease control, and harvesting.
• Plan and implement effective cropping schedules and agronomic practices.
• Ensure timely and efficient field activities using best agricultural practices.

2. Resource & Labor Management

• Supervise field supervisors, laborers, and technical teams.
• Plan workforce deployment to meet operational needs during peak and off-peak seasons.
• Manage housing, welfare, and disciplinary matters of plantation staff.

3. Financial & Inventory Management

• Prepare annual budgets and ensure operations remain within financial targets.
• Monitor input usage (fertilizers, chemicals, seeds) and maintain stock control.
• Identify cost-saving measures and improve operational efficiency.

4. Compliance & Sustainability

• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Implement sustainable farming practices and support certification (e.g., RSPO, Rainforest Alliance).
• Maintain records for audits and external inspections.

5. Equipment & Infrastructure

• Manage maintenance of agricultural machinery, vehicles, and estate infrastructure (roads, irrigation, drainage).
• Coordinate procurement and repairs as needed.

6. Reporting & Communication

• Prepare regular reports on crop progress, yield forecasts, labor performance, and budget utilization.
• Liaise with management, agronomists, suppliers, and external agencies.
