
Tax and Compliance Lead

The Tax and Compliance Lead is responsible for overseeing the organization's tax strategy and regulatory compliance framework. This leadership role ensures accurate tax filings, timely renewal of licenses and permits, and adherence to national and local regulatory requirements. The role also involves proactively identifying risks, developing controls, and guiding the organization in maintaining a compliant and audit-ready status.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of all tax returns (e.g., VAT, Income Tax, Withholding Tax, Fringe Benefits Tax).
- Ensure compliance with all local, national, and (if applicable) international tax laws and reporting requirements.
- Lead tax planning initiatives to optimize tax efficiency while ensuring full compliance.
- Manage tax audits, assessments, and correspondence with tax authorities (e.g., BIR).
- Monitor tax law updates and implement required changes within the organization.
- Provide guidance on tax implications of business transactions, expansions, and special projects.
Compliance Oversight:
- Lead the company's overall compliance framework, including the renewal and maintenance of permits, registrations, and licenses (BIR, SEC, LGUs, DOLE, etc.).
- Ensure timely compliance with statutory filings, reporting obligations, and regulatory updates.
- Develop and enforce internal compliance controls and SOPs to mitigate operational and regulatory risks.
- Act as the main point of contact during internal and external audits, inspections, and legal reviews.
- Coordinate compliance-related training sessions for relevant departments.
Leadership & Strategy:
- Supervise and mentor a team of tax and compliance professionals.
- Collaborate with other departments (Legal, HR, Operations) to ensure organization-wide compliance.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on tax and compliance risks, issues, and updates.
- Drive continuous improvement in tax and compliance processes, including automation and digitization initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Law (CPA or legal background preferred).
- At least 5–7 years of progressive experience in taxation and regulatory compliance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Deep knowledge of Philippine tax code, BIR regulations, SEC rules, and other statutory requirements.
- Experience in handling tax audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory inspections.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with ERP or accounting systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks).
- High attention to detail and integrity in handling confidential and sensitive information.
