Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Management
  • Provide overall direction and leadership for the Nursing Service.
  • Formulate the nursing department's vision, mission, goals, and policies.
  • Supervise nursing supervisors, head nurses, and all nursing personnel.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning.
  • Lead organizational improvements and hospital-wide initiatives.
2. Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure delivery of safe, competent, and evidence-based nursing care.
  • Develop and monitor nursing standards of practice and protocols.
  • Lead quality improvement programs, audits, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with DOH, PhilHealth, ISO, and accreditation requirements (e.g., JCI, HFEP).
3. Administrative & Operational Management
  • Oversee daily nursing operations across all hospital units.
  • Prepare and manage the nursing department's budget.
  • Supervise procurement and maintenance of nursing supplies and equipment.
  • Participate in hospital-wide planning, policy-making, and executive meetings.
4. Human Resource Development
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and assessment of nursing staff.
  • Implement performance evaluations and competency checks.
  • Plan and support continuing education, training, and CPD compliance.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and ethical working environment.
5. Regulatory & Legal Compliance
  • Ensure all nurses hold valid PRC licenses and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Implement DOH and PRC policies, including safe staffing standards.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital rules, nursing ethics, and legal standards.
6. Patient Care & Service Excellence
  • Promote patient-centered care and uphold patient rights.
  • Address serious patient complaints related to nursing services.
  • Coordinate with physicians, allied health professionals, and hospital departments.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), with a valid PRC RN license.
  • Master's degree in Nursing or related field (often required, especially in government hospitals).
  • At least 5โ€“10 years of progressive nursing leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of DOH, PhilHealth, and hospital accreditation standards.
