Safety Officer III

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Program Development:

• Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures based on industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Update and revise safety manuals and documents to reflect changes in laws, regulations, and organizational practices.

Safety Inspections and Audits:

• Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Prepare detailed reports of findings and recommendations for corrective actions.

Training and Education:

• Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions for employees on topics such as hazard identification, emergency response procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
• Provide new employee orientation regarding safety policies and procedures.

Incident Investigation:

• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop preventive measures.
• Maintain records of incidents and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.

Safety Committee Leadership:

• Lead and facilitate safety committee meetings, fostering collaboration and engagement among committee members.
• Work closely with management and employees to address safety concerns and implement solutions.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations related to occupational health and safety.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agency requirements through regular monitoring and reporting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) preferred.
• Proven experience as a safety officer or in a related role, with a strong understanding of safety management systems.
