
Security Superintendent

The Security Superintendent is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing an integrated security program that protects personnel, assets, and operations of the mining project. The role requires the development of a comprehensive security plan and the establishment of a security department that upholds the principles of ethical conduct, human rights, and sustainability, in line with national laws and international best practices in responsible mining. The Security Superintendent will work collaboratively with contractors, local communities, Indigenous Peoples, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders to ensure that security operations support the project's long-term social license to operate through.
Specifically, he/she shall be responsible for the following:
A. General Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the Security Management Plan, including security risk assessments, standard operating procedures, and protocols aligned with the project's sustainability goals and corporate values.
- Establish and build a professional Security Department guided by the principles of responsible mining, including respect for Indigenous Peoples, minimal environmental impact, and promotion of peace and stability in the community.
- Integrate sustainability and human rights into all security operations, consistent with the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) and the company's Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS).
- Conduct regular training on ethical security behavior, conflict de-escalation, emergency response, and sustainability-aligned practices.
B. Operational Security Management
- Manage daily site security operations including physical security, access control, surveillance systems, and response protocols.
- Conduct regular threat, vulnerability, and risk assessments with corresponding mitigation strategies.
- Oversee the performance of third-party security providers, ensuring adherence to ethical conduct, contractual obligations, and performance standards.
- Translate strategies and targets set by senior management into actionable goals and work programs to guide effective execution at the operational level.
C. Regulatory and Legal Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Philippine laws and regulations (e.g., RA 5487, PNP-SOSIA requirements, IPRA, local ordinances).
- Lead internal investigations of security-related incidents and submit required reports to PNP, MGB, DENR, NCIP, and other regulatory bodies, as necessary.
- Serve as custodian of all security licenses, permits, and regulatory documentation.
D. Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain open, respectful, and transparent communication with host communities, Barangay officials, Council of Elders, and Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs/IPs).
- Design and enforce security policies that prevent excessive use of force, respect community customs, and protect human rights.
- Represent the security team in community peace and order councils or related forums.
E. Emergency and Crisis Response
- Develop and update emergency response and evacuation plans in coordination with the Health and Safety and Environment departments.
- Serve as incident commander for all security emergencies, ensuring coordinated response with law enforcement and local authorities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Public Safety, Security Management, or related field; advanced degree is an advantage.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in security operations, with 5 years in a supervisory role in mining, energy, infrastructure, or high-risk sectors.
- Familiarity with Philippine Indigenous Peoples' Rights Act (IPRA), Environmental Laws, and national/local security protocols.
- Strong leadership, integrity, and emotional intelligence.
- Strategic thinking and ability to design systems that align with sustainability and social responsibility goals.
- Commitment to human rights, ethical security practices, and community-oriented solutions.
- Strong commitment to environment, health and safety standards.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From Php130,000.00 per month
