Job Title: Radiologic Technologist

Department: Radiology

Reports To: Radiology Manager / Chief Technologist

Job Summary

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging examinations, such as X-rays and other radiographic procedures, to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. This role requires technical expertise, patient care skills, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and established protocols
  • Position patients correctly to obtain high-quality diagnostic images
  • Operate and maintain radiographic equipment safely and effectively
  • Ensure radiation safety and follow ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles
  • Verify patient identity and explain procedures to ensure comfort and cooperation
  • Review images for quality and accuracy before submission to radiologists
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in imaging systems
  • Follow infection control, HIPAA, and facility policies at all times
  • Assist radiologists and other healthcare professionals as needed
  • Participate in quality assurance and continuing education activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program
  • Current Radiologic Technologist certification (ARRT or equivalent)
  • Valid state license, if required
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiographic positioning
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a hospital or clinical imaging environment
  • Additional certifications (CT, MRI, Mammography, etc.)
  • Familiarity with digital radiography and PACS systems

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and position patients and equipment
  • Manual dexterity to operate imaging equipment

Work Environment

  • Hospital, outpatient clinic, or imaging center
  • Exposure to radiation (within regulated safety limits)
  • May require evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts
