I. Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish the goals and objectives of the hospital pharmacy in coordination with the staff
Assure compliance with all legal requirements to effectively render hospital pharmacy services.
(FDA, PDEA, DOH and other agencies)
Develop an organizational structure with clearly defined lines of authority and job responsibilities that enable the staff to work together toward common objectives
Supervise, instruct and train employees of the hospital pharmacy
Integrate pharmacy services with other hospital departments and with the medical staff to establish multidisciplinary approach on improving patient care.
Seek innovative ways to reduce and contain costs while providing quality care
Provide information concerning medicines and drug therapy to all concerned health personnel in the hospital
Establish policies and procedures to improve pharmacy services
Collate reactions/ comments concerning prescribed medications and other pharmacy services
Participate as member of the Pharmacy Therapeutics Committee (PTC).
Monitor distribution and dispensing of dangerous drugs
Check and submit semi-annual report of dangerous drugs in compliance to PDEA requirements
Receiving and checking of drugs deliveries from different suppliers / distributors based on Purchase order
Maintain inventory control program
Orientation and training of Professional staff and Pharmacy interns on hospital organization, policies and procedures
Plan suitable educational and training programs for professional staff and Pharmacy interns.
Check, evaluate and approve performance ratings of Pharmacy
Review and approve pharmacy requisitions of medicines and supplies
Approve pharmacy staff schedule of duties per cut-off
Perform other related functions as instructed by the Chief Administrative Officer or the Chief of Hospital
Attend scientific seminar, workshop, convention and continuing education on drug-related matters and hospital pharmacy
Knowledge:
· Shall have an extensive knowledge of pharmacological information.
· Must be computer literate, especially in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
· Shall have a knowledge on clinical and pharmaceutical compliance regulatory standards.
Skills:
· Ability to promote and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak and write clearly and concisely.
· Excellent skills in reporting and leading group discussions with regard to the hospital pharmacy committee.
· Able to provide safe medications efficiently to all hospital clients.
· Innate ability to evaluate patients' needs and doctors.
