Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Dim Sum Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in preparing traditional and innovative dim sum dishes with exceptional taste, presentation, and authenticity. This role requires mastery of various cooking techniques, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of Chinese culinary traditions, particularly Cantonese cuisine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook, and present a wide variety of dim sum items such as dumplings, buns, rolls, and desserts.
- Develop new and creative dim sum recipes while maintaining traditional flavors and techniques.
- Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and portion control across all dishes.
- Manage the preparation of ingredients, including dough, fillings, and sauces, with high efficiency.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure ingredient availability.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Train and supervise junior kitchen staff on dim sum preparation techniques.
- Collaborate with the executive chef and management to design seasonal or special dim sum menus.
- Control waste and manage resources efficiently to minimize food cost.
- Stay updated with culinary trends and bring innovative ideas to the menu.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Dim Sum Chef or in a similar role in a Chinese or Asian restaurant.
- Mastery of dim sum cooking techniques such as steaming, frying, and baking.
- Strong knowledge of Cantonese cuisine and Chinese culinary traditions.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in presentation.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen best practices.
- Ability to train and mentor kitchen staff effectively.
- Creativity in menu development and passion for culinary innovation.
Education & Experience:
- Culinary degree or professional training in Chinese cuisine preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience specializing in dim sum preparation.
