The Guidance Counselor, a faculty-ranked position under the JHS Guidance Office and the Office of the Vice President for Basic Education, holds a probationary term of three (3) years in accordance with the JHS/BE Faculty Ranking System. The Guidance Counselor reports directly to the Director of Guidance and works closely with subject teachers, office personnel, and the Prefect of Students in carrying out the responsibilities of the Guidance Program.
Duties and Responsibilities
Core Functions:
- Assist the Director for Guidance in preparing, implementing, and improving the Guidance Program.
- Provide individual and group guidance and counseling services to students in the assigned grade level.
- Offer relevant information and counseling support to teachers and parents/guardians in addressing student concerns.
- Document and maintain records of counseling sessions, case interviews, and follow-ups.
- Make recommendations for the academic, personal, and spiritual development of counselees.
- Coordinate with the Prefect of Students on matters related to student behavior and deportment.
- Follow up on student referrals from teachers, Prefect of Students, or other concerned personnel.
- Report sensitive cases, especially those compromising students' safety and welfare, to the Guidance Director.
- Design and implement homeroom/structured learning modules and developmental activities for student formation.
Auxiliary Functions:
Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Director of Guidance, Assistant Principal for Formation and Student Affairs, and/or the Principal.
