Role: Quality Control Analyst (US Mortgage)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Quality Control Analyst to join our mortgage operations team. The ideal candidate has a strong underwriting background and extensive experience in mortgage quality control, audit review, and compliance. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality loan production through pre-funding, post-closing, and discretionary reviews while maintaining compliance with investor, agency, and regulatory requirements.

This position requires strong analytical and reporting skills, in-depth knowledge of Agency and Non-QM guidelines, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external auditors, and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform Quality Control reviews, including pre-funding, post-closing, and discretionary loan audits.
  • Ensure mortgage loans comply with company policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze QC findings, internal audits, external audits, and regulatory reviews to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare detailed QC reports, findings, rebuttals, and recommendations for management review.
  • Present audit results and QC summaries related to internal, investor, and regulatory audits.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the QC Department and internal stakeholders, as well as external auditors, agencies, and regulators.
  • Provide guidance and training to ensure consistency and integrity of the QC review process.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of investor, agency, and regulatory guidelines, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and Non-QM requirements.
  • Evaluate and enhance QC processes, tools, and methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with government-guaranteed and insured loan programs (FHA and VA).
  • Communicate QC findings, corrective actions, and recommendations clearly and professionally.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in mortgage underwriting, quality control, or loan audit roles.
  • Strong prior underwriting experience with Agency and/or Non-QM loans.
  • In-depth knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD, VA, and Non-QM industry best practices.
  • Solid understanding of mortgage loan documentation, audit processes, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience supporting internal, external, investor, and regulatory audits is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex loan data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting findings to stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, process-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows–based applications and the ability to quickly learn mortgage systems and third-party platforms.
