Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented SMSF Accountant to manage the preparation of financial reports, compliance lodgments, and investment reconciliations for self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs). The role involves ensuring accuracy, meeting statutory deadlines, and maintaining strong communication with clients to support them in fulfilling their SMSF obligations.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare SMSF financial statements, tax reconciliations, and investment schedules.
  • Tax & Compliance: Complete and lodge SMSF Annual Returns, TBARs, and other statutory obligations.
  • Investment Reconciliation: Reconcile investment balances, income, and capital gains to ensure accuracy of returns.
  • Share Registry Checks: Verify ASX investment holdings through share registries.
  • Client Communication: Draft and prepare client communication regarding SMSF obligations and progress updates.
  • Document Management: Profile, organize, and manage source documents received.
  • ATO Portal Access: Retrieve ITA, ICA, PFR, and other relevant reports from the ATO portal.
  • Time & Budget Management: Deliver work within set deadlines and allocated budgets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of SMSF accounting, tax, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in SMSF administration software and ATO portal usage.
  • Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and client management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while meeting time and budget constraints.
