Overview

Apex Investment Administration New Zealand is looking for a Senior Report Writer to join its Cloud Data Platform (CDP) team. This role plays a key part in supporting over $140 billion in managed assets by developing, maintaining, and enhancing data pipelines and reporting solutions. The successful candidate will help ensure the accurate, secure, and timely delivery of data to our investment and wealth management clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain reliable reports and dashboards using SQL, Power BI, and SSRS.
  • Build and manage financial data domain models, ensuring seamless and accurate integration within the CDP.
  • Maintain data integrity and security through automated testing, peer reviews, and proper documentation.
  • Mentor team members and encourage best practices in data engineering, reporting, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders and central data teams to deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage multiple projects effectively, provide realistic time estimates, and adapt to shifting priorities as needed.
  • Take an active role in Agile ceremonies and contribute to team planning, process improvement, and delivery optimization.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong command of SQL with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven experience developing reports and dashboards using SSRS and Power BI.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and version control systems such as Git.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience working within the Azure ecosystem (e.g., DevOps, Data Factory).

  • Knowledge of data modeling, ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Fivetran), and data platforms such as Snowflake and dbt.
  • Understanding of data governance, security controls (RBAC, data masking), and financial industry practices.
