Intermediate Accountant

THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client is a leading insurance group with over 110 years of experience managing workers' insurance and compensation claims. They partner with employers, medical providers, and industry stakeholders to deliver market-leading return-to-work outcomes and safe work initiatives.

As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an
Intermediate
Accountant
to join their Manila-based team on a hybrid work setup. As an Intermediate Accountant, you will ensure accurate and timely regulatory reporting, particularly APRA requirements, by applying strong accounting and business knowledge. The role also supports the Finance Team Lead in process improvements and team initiatives.

The position follows a hybrid schedule, with two days onsite and three days working from home. The role is based in BGC, Taguig, with work hours from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM PHT.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare moderately complex regulatory reports in compliance with APRA, AFSL, PCA, FBT, PTR, and other standards.
• Ensureaccuracy and completeness of financial data via reconciliation and variance analysis.
• Maintain and organize regulatory documentation (checklists, audit support, disclosures).
• Collaborate with internal finance teams, external auditors, and regulators to resolve reporting issues.
• Lead quality control and implement compliance measures and controls.
• Develop and update desktop procedures for reporting processes.
• Identify, resolve, and escalate reporting issues as required.
• Recommend and implement process, system, and reporting improvements with a focus on innovation.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
• Collaborate with the Sydney finance team for accurate and efficient reporting.
• Lead or participate in team projects and initiatives.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• 3–5 years experience in Finance and Regulatory Reporting, preferably in the insurance industry, BPO/shared services, or with an audit background.
• Minimum of 2 years in regulatory report preparation and variance analysis; strong knowledge of APRA, IFRS, AFSL, Payment Times Reporting, FBT.
• Proven experience in process improvement, project management, and collaboration with external auditors.
• Skilled in ERP systems (Workday preferred) and an Intermediate to advanced level of MS Excel.
• Strong technical accounting capabilities with hands-on experience in financial statement preparation and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; high attention to detail, strong quality control, and effective documentation management.
