Position Overview:

The Logistics Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation and delivery of goods. This role involves careful handling of cargo, adherence to schedules and traffic laws, maintenance of delivery records, and providing excellent customer service during pickups and deliveries.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Driving & Delivery:

  • Operate company vehicles (e.g., vans, box trucks, tractor-trailers) safely to transport goods to designated locations, following assigned routes and time schedules.
  • Plan and navigate optimal delivery routes using GPS and mapping software to maximize efficiency.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, transportation regulations (e.g., DOT/HSE), and company safety protocols.

Loading & Unloading Handling:

  • Load and unload delivery, ensuring all items are handled properly and secured within the vehicle to prevent damage during transit.
  • Verify the accuracy of delivery against manifest or delivery paperwork before departure and upon arrival.

Vehicle Maintenance & Inspection:

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (e.g., checking fuel, oil, tires, lights, brakes) and report any mechanical issues or damage immediately to the supervisor or maintenance team.
  • Ensure the vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and operational at all times.

Documentation & Administration:

  • Accurately complete all required delivery documentation, including delivery receipts, waybills, mileage logs, fuel consumption records, and hours of service (HOS) logs.
  • Obtain necessary signatures and/or process payments upon delivery.

Customer Service & Communication:

  • Communicate professionally and courteously with dispatch, customers, and warehouse personnel to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and resolve any issues or delays.
  • Represent the company positively during all interactions with clients.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Licensure: Valid driver's license (e.g., Commercial Driver's License - CDL Class A, B, or C, as required by the vehicle type).
  • Experience: Proven work experience as a Logistics Driver, Delivery Driver, or similar role.
  • Driving Record: Clean driving record required.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in using GPS, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and routing systems.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Attention to detail for verifying orders and completing paperwork.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
  • Physically fit and able to lift, push, and move heavy packages or cargo repeatedly throughout the shift (e.g., ability to lift up to 50 lbs).
