Key Responsibilities:

  • Review patient charts and assign accurate codes using
    ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS
    systems.
  • Ensure coding aligns with
    AMA guidelines
    , payer-specific policies, and federal/state regulations.
  • Link diagnosis codes appropriately with procedure codes to ensure correct sequencing and maximum reimbursement.
  • Enter coding information into the system with a high level of accuracy.
  • Identify and resolve coding discrepancies or documentation deficiencies.
  • Perform
    quality assurance checks
    on coding completed by other team members.
  • Maintain accurate daily and monthly
    Management Information System (M.I.S.)
    records.
  • Follow up on claim denials and contribute to appeal processes when necessary.
  • Train and support less experienced coders, particularly in specialty areas.
  • Maintain compliance with client-specific and state program coding variations.
  • Ensure chart counts in batches match those received from clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Science background preferred); Postgraduate qualification is a plus.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC, CCS, or equivalent certification) is highly preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in
    medical coding
    , specifically in
    home healthcare
    .
  • Strong understanding of
    ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS
    coding guidelines.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and AMA coding rules.
  • Experience in
    claims management
    or
    healthcare customer service
    is a plus.
  • Proficient in using
    Microsoft Office Suite
    and medical coding software.
  • Strong attention to detail with high accuracy in data entry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
