Moldshop Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Mold Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of industrial molds used in plastic injection or blow molding operations. The role ensures molds are produced and maintained to quality, safety, and efficiency standards while supervising mold shop personnel, coordinating schedules, and supporting continuous improvement in mold performance and production readiness.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage and schedule shifts for mold maintenance personnel, machinists, and mold setters to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operations.
• Prioritize work orders for in-house machining, mold preventive maintenance (MPM), and emergency mold repairs to minimize production downtime.Troubleshoot technical and process-related mold issues during manufacturing and ensure molds meet required specifications and quality standards.
• Monitor mold shop consumables and tooling inventory, manage budgets related to mold maintenance and tooling, and coordinate closely with engineering and production teams.

Skills and Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of injection molding and thermoforming processes, including machining operations such as CNC, EDM, and lathe work, with strong blueprint reading skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with effective communication skills for training and guiding staff, and the capacity to work under high-pressure production deadlines.
• Computer literate, with the ability to use basic office and production-related software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in mold repair and fabrication.
• Leadership training or experience in supervising/managing teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
