Job Purpose

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and ensuring the safe use of boom trucks and skip loaders for lifting, loading, transporting, and unloading materials. The role ensures adherence to safety standards, efficiency in operations, and compliance with TESDA NC II competency requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Operation

  • Operate boom trucks and skip loaders in accordance with TESDA NC II standards and company guidelines.
  • Perform lifting, loading, and unloading of materials safely and efficiently.
  • Maneuver equipment in confined spaces or difficult site conditions with precision.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and occupational safety regulations.
  • Conduct pre-operation and post-operation inspection of equipment.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and implement safety measures at all times.
  • Immediately report accidents, near-misses, or equipment malfunctions.

Maintenance & Documentation

  • Perform basic preventive maintenance (checking oil, fuel, brakes, hydraulics, and tires).
  • Keep equipment clean, functional, and ready for use.
  • Maintain accurate records/logbooks of equipment usage, fuel consumption, and repairs.

Teamwork & Coordination

  • Work closely with site supervisors, riggers, and other crew members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Follow signals and instructions from spotters or lifting supervisors during operations.
  • Assist in loading/unloading activities when required.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Skilled in operating boom trucks and skip loaders.
  • Strong knowledge of safety protocols in heavy equipment operations.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Ability to read and follow load charts, lifting plans, and work instructions.
  • Discipline, reliability, and ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications & Experience

  • TESDA NC II Certification in Heavy Equipment Operation (Boom Truck / Skip Loader).
  • Valid professional driver's license (appropriate restriction code for equipment).
  • Minimum of [X years] experience operating heavy equipment (preferred).
  • Physically fit with good vision and hearing.
  • No record of major traffic or safety violations.
