What does an E-Learning Manager do? Think of yourself as someone who will lead and mentor a team of instructional designers, content writers and editors, so not just anyone is qualified for this role. We make sure we get the best of the best, after all, we are a ridiculously good company so we make sure our employees are top notch. Now we need your full concentration because it's time to imagine what it's like being an E-Learning Manager.
Imagine yourself going to work with one thing on your mind: that you will provide thought leadership in the application of instructional design strategies and methodologies, particularly in the areas of learning analytics and design, to deliver learner-centered training solutions across all levels in the organization. As you tackle your new tasks for the day, you know that it comes down to one thing: that you will hire, train, mentor and evaluate staff (ID Supervisors) to ensure seamless execution of instructional design initiatives.
As an E-Learning Manager, you will hire, train, mentor and evaluate staff (ID Supervisors) to ensure seamless execution of instructional design initiatives. You will also provide instructional design services to the following key functions: Implementations, Project Management, Client Services, Consultancy and Product-Specifics Training (PST) for new campaign/LOB launches. Also, Operations Management, Quality and PST to address performance gaps in production. You will also be incharge of the organizational development (OD) for continuing education and skills enhancement. Other Support functions and vendors for organization-wide special projects (e.g., new tool/technology, process updates) will also come in from time to time. You will also collaborate with the E-Learning (Multimedia Development and LMS Administration workstreams) and PST Teams to design, develop and implement innovative self-paced and instructor-led training programs and evaluate the effectiveness of such.
What else? You will also analyze the learning needs to determine the required skills. You will analyze all the learning needs and determine the required skills and competency levels. You will also identify training objectives and performance targets. You will also define the instructional design strategy, you will scoping/outlining training content, building training curriculum/lesson plan. You will also write storyboards/scripts Designing facilitator and participant guides. You will facilitate the Train-the-Trainer (T3)/Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions. You will create the knowledge and skills assessments. You will also evaluate the learning effectiveness. You will also hire, train, mentor and evaluate staff (ID Supervisors) to ensure seamless execution of instructional design initiatives. You will also discover and implement techniques to drive online learning adoption and content usage. You will continuously update and improve knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to instructional design, adult education, and training evaluation. You will be measured through implementing training programs that reflect a learner-centered teaching philosophy Improving learning transfer, by achieving appropriate contractual client metrics, and by adhering to agreed timelines.
Do you have what it takes to become an E-Learning Manager?
As a manager, we need someone who has at least 3-5 years designing learner-centered training programs and developing related training materials. Also, 3-5 years conducting learning needs analyses to identify situations addressable by training solutions. We also need someone with a working knowledge of adult learning, instructional design, and evaluation principles and practices. We also need someone with drafting measurable training goals and learning objectives (in all three learning domains). We also need someone who can develop appropriate learning assessment strategies and instruments.
Now let's get technical -- we need someone who is technology literate, can easily work with new software (e.g., media development tools, office suite, and other web applications). We also need an understanding of functionalities of courseware authoring tools (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline) Experience with E-Learning design principles, practices, and platforms (LMS). In terms of other skills, we're looking for someone with a demonstrated ability to make decisions by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives and propose quality solutions. We also need someone who has the ability to communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, verbally and in writing. Someone who has the ability to interact with peers, management and other departments in a professional manner.
Lastly, we need someone who must be able to foster a positive and productive work environment, with ability to lead, build teams, and motivate staff. Someone who has strong organizational and interpersonal management skills. Someone who has the ability to manage time effectively and efficiently. Someone who is self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.
