Purpose of the position:

The Material Planner ensures the timely and accurate availability of all raw materials, ingredients, and packaging items required for production. The role interprets forecasts, anticipates seasonal and supply risks, drives supplier coordination, and supports lean manufacturing principles. This position also leads material-related quality improvement initiatives and works closely with cross-functional teams to prevent downtime, reduce waste, and strengthen supply reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze sales forecasts, production plans, and historical trends to determine material requirements.
  • Anticipate supply risks such as seasonal demand spikes, ingredient constraints, and long lead-time items.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels aligned with lean manufacturing and minimal waste.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Production, QA, R&D, Procurement, and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth material flow.
  • Liaise with suppliers to monitor deliveries, resolve issues, and improve material quality and reliability.
  • Conduct supplier business reviews and collaborate on corrective and preventive actions for quality concerns.
  • Lead or support quality improvement initiatives related to raw materials and packaging items.
  • Escalate risks proactively, communicate delays or constraints, and propose solutions.
  • Prepare and update Material Requirements Plans (MRP), track consumption variances, and recommend adjustments.

Qualifications, knowledge, skills required:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 1–2 years' experience in material planning, supply chain, or production planning — preferably in food manufacturing or FMCG.
  • Strong understanding of forecasting, inventory management, and MRP principles.
  • Experience in cross-functional coordination and supplier management is an advantage.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable leading discussions and raising concerns when necessary.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and basic quality tools is a plus.
