QA/QC Engineer

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Graduate of a Bachelor's/College degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering; licensed is an edge but not required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· Proven experience of at least 1-3 yrs. in a similar manufacturing environment, specifically with low & medium electrical distribution equipment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Inspection and Testing

• Incoming Material Inspection: Inspect raw materials (sheet metal, busbars, wiring, components, hardware, paint) upon arrival for conformance to specifications, checking for proper labeling, dimensions, and damage.
• In-Process Inspection: Monitor fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, punching, welding/joining, enclosure assembly, and component mounting, ensuring correct procedures are followed.
• Wiring and Termination Checks: Verify the correctness of wiring diagrams, wire gauges, proper crimping/termination techniques, torque values for busbar and component connections, and adherence to electrical schematics.
• Final Inspection: Conduct a thorough final check of assembled units (enclosures, panels, switch gear) for cosmetic appearance, dimensional accuracy, proper labeling/tagging, and completeness before shipment.
• Functional Testing: Perform and document various tests, such as High Potential (Hi-Pot) testing, insulation resistance (Megger) testing, contact resistance testing, ground continuity checks, and operational verification of circuit breakers, switches, and protective relays according to standards and project requirements.

2. Quality Assurance and Documentation

• Documentation Management: Maintain accurate and complete quality records, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, inspection reports, material certifications (MTRs), and test results.
• Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR): Identify, document, quarantine, and track defective materials or workmanship. Work with production and engineering to facilitate corrective actions and rework verification.
• Standards Compliance: Ensure all manufactured items comply with relevant national and international standards (e.g., UL 508A, UL 67, NEMA standards, IEC standards) and specific customer specifications.
• Calibration: Oversee the calibration schedule and records for all test equipment and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, multimeters).

3. Process Improvement

• Auditing: Conduct periodic internal audits of the production floor and assembly areas to ensure ongoing adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS), such as ISO 9001 principles.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Participate in or lead investigations into recurring quality failures to determine the root cause and implement effective preventive actions.
• Training: Assist in training production personnel on new quality standards, inspection techniques, and best practices.
• Other related duties as requested by the immediate superior.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams, and bill of materials (BOMs). Proficiency in using precision measuring tools and electrical testing equipment.
• In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards pertinent to electrical enclosures, panelboards, and switchgear assembly.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills (written and verbal), and the ability to work independently and make sound judgments on product acceptance or rejection.
