JOB OVERVIEW
Responsible for handling fundamental and core aspects of clients' financial recordkeeping and may assist the financial control team in financial service delivery by taking on advanced tasks provided by the Accounting Manager.
The Senior Accountant may be assigned to help manage a team, performing process compliance reviews and systematic and scheduled checks of the accuracy of work being done by other team members, i.e., Junior and Intermediate Accountants.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Receipting
  • Record and allocate customer payments accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Prepare aged receivables reports for clients as required.

Supplier Payments and Expenses
  • Collect and organise supplier invoices into weekly, fortnightly, or monthly payment runs, streamlining processes where possible.

  • Ensure supplier bills are accurately authorised prior to payment.

  • Process payments once authorised.

  • Record supplier payments and office expenses in the accounting system with proper coding.

Bank Account Reconciliations
  • Reconcile all bank accounts on a weekly basis.

  • Complete month-end reconciliations up to the last day of the month.

  • Reconcile loan accounts at least quarterly.

Payroll Processing
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.

  • Process payroll, prepare ABA files, and ensure clients can action payments through online banking.

  • Distribute pay advices and ensure employee contact details are correct.

  • Track employees' leave accruals.

  • Reconcile monthly/quarterly PAYG.

  • Prepare and process quarterly superannuation payments.

  • Prepare year-end payment summaries and reconciliations.

  • Complete end-of-year payroll processing and lodge with the Australian Taxation Office.

Ad Hoc Tasks
  • Carry out additional tasks assigned by the Account Manager or Service Delivery Manager, including tasks related to client coordination and support.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Graduate of Finance, Accounting, or Business-related degree.

  • CPA is preferred but not required.

Experience
  • Hands-on experience in Australian accounting (3+ years), with the ability to understand workflows quickly and perform core tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Able to hit the ground running and deliver accurate, timely work within established processes.

Systems and Applications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Familiarity with accounting tools such as Xero, MYOB, and Pronto is preferred.

  • Willing and able to learn new tools and systems as needed.

Quality
  • Consistently works within hammerjack and client quality guidelines.

  • Delivers high-standard outputs without the need for close supervision.

Communication Skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to collaborate well and maintain positive working relationships with team members and clients.
