Job Summary:
The Associate Veterinarian is responsible for providing high-quality medical care to a variety of animal patients, ensuring their health and well-being through accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and compassionate client communication. The role involves performing medical, surgical, and dental procedures while maintaining compliance with veterinary standards and clinic protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct physical examinations and diagnostic tests to assess animal health and identify medical conditions.
- Prescribe medications, administer vaccinations, and provide preventive care.
- Perform surgical procedures including spays, neuters, dental extractions, and other soft-tissue surgeries.
- Develop and communicate treatment plans to pet owners with empathy and clarity.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians, assistants, and other staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Educate pet owners on animal health, nutrition, and preventive care.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education.
- Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and ethical standards of veterinary practice.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid veterinary license in the state of employment.
- Strong knowledge of animal medicine, surgery, and care.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Compassionate and caring attitude toward animals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with staff and clients.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Previous experience in veterinary practice or a specialized area is a plus.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
