Job Summary:

The Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service by efficiently processing sales transactions, handling cash and card payments accurately, and maintaining a friendly, welcoming atmosphere at the checkout area. This role also supports store operations such as bagging merchandise, assisting with returns or exchanges, and ensuring the checkout counter is clean and organized.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers warmly and provide a positive shopping experience.
  • Accurately handle cash, credit/debit card, and digital payments.
  • Process sales, returns, and exchanges using the store's point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, or change to customers promptly.
  • Assist customers with inquiries about store products, promotions, and policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the checkout area.
  • Count and balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts.
  • Coordinate with sales staff to ensure smooth customer flow during peak hours.
  • Follow store security and loss prevention procedures.
  • Support other store duties as needed, such as restocking items near the counter or tagging merchandise.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous cashier or retail experience is an advantage.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Honest, reliable, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Work Environment:

  • Retail store setting (standing for long periods).
  • Fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
