Datacenter Administrator

Job Accountability:

This role is responsible for the effective management of the Bank's servers by configuring, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures that ensure accurate and timely server administration. The role also provides technical expertise on system performance, change control, and management.

The Administrator will collaborate closely with Database Administrators, Application Administrators, and Development and Support teams. The role also supports strategic planning, budget preparation, and the evaluation of IT acquisitions and infrastructure upgrades.

Main Responsibilities:

Server and System Administration

• Plan, design, document, and implement server infrastructures, including security appliances and software applications.
• Install, configure, and maintain production and test servers across Unix/Linux and Windows platforms.
• Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
• Install and configure applications and databases on servers.
• Monitor operating system performance (e.g., disk space, memory, CPU utilization) and perform system tuning.
• Investigate server hardware and software issues and coordinate resolution.

Backup and Recovery

• Develop, maintain, and monitor server backup procedures.
• Define and implement appropriate backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Support server-level disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation.

Security and Policy Implementation

• Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure system security and integrity.
• Support compliance with internal security protocols and industry best practices.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of user accounts and access controls.
• Conduct routine system and software audits.

Performance Monitoring and Automation

• Analyze system logs and proactively identify and address potential issues.
• Create scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.
• Monitor and optimize server and cloud infrastructure performance.

Support and Troubleshooting

• Respond to technical queries and provide support for incident resolution.
• Assist in user acceptance testing (UAT) and vendor issue investigations.
• Execute patches and hotfixes as required in coordination with stakeholders.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and incidents.
• Provide regular status reports and recommend improvements based on performance data.

Infrastructure Development and Cloud Support

• Stay updated on emerging server technologies and tools.
• Provide input on new equipment and services for procurement.
• Assist in installing and maintaining cloud services and hybrid infrastructure components.
