Welder

We are looking for a certified and skilled Vessel Welder to perform critical welding and joining tasks on our commercial fishing fleet in Malabon/Navotas City. This role is essential for the structural repair and maintenance of our vessels. The ideal candidate must be highly proficient in various welding processes used in the marine industry and capable of ensuring the highest structural integrity under minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• High-Quality Welding: Execute precise, high-integrity welding on various ship components, including hull plating, decks, bulkheads, piping, and machinery supports, primarily using materials like steel and aluminum.
• Process Expertise: Proficiently utilize multiple welding processes, including Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), ensuring welds meet specified marine classification standards (e.g., ABS, LRS).
• Fitting and Preparation: Assist Fitters in preparing joints for welding, including cutting, grinding, and beveling, and ensure proper alignment and fit-up of parts prior to joining.
• Inspection and Quality Control: Visually inspect finished welds to ensure they meet quality and safety standards, making necessary corrections as required.
• Safety & Compliance: Strictly follow all company and shipyard safety protocols, especially concerning fire watches, ventilation, and working in confined spaces.
• Work Ethic: Demonstrate the ability to work effectively under minimum supervision and maintain productivity on critical repair schedules.

Qualifications

• Certified Welder (certification from TESDA NC II in SMAW/GMAW or other recognized bodies is highly preferred).
• Expert proficiency in SMAW and GMAW processes; knowledge of other processes is an advantage.
• Ability to work on Saturdays and Overtime as required by repair schedules and vessel drydocking demands.
• Strong ability to use cutting torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and other tools related to metal preparation.
• Physically fit and able to work in various conditions, including heights, confined spaces, and in varying weather at the port.
