- Preparation & Baking:
o Assist in the preparation of various pastry products including cakes, ice cream, pies, breads, salads and other cold items.
o Follow recipes and instructions for the preparation of doughs, batters, fillings, icings and cold items
o Ensure products are prepared according to specifications
- Pastry Decoration & Presentation:
o Help with the decoration and plating of desserts and cold items for service, ensuring visually appealing presentations.
o Assist in creating decorative elements such as frosting cakes and plating pastry and cold items
- Kitchen Organization:
o Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to sanitation and safety standards.
o Ensure proper storage of pastry and cold items and ingredients to prevent waste and spoilage.
o Assist with inventory management, including checking stock levels and proper labeling of all items
- Assisting Pastry Chef
o Work closely with the Pastry Chef and other kitchen staff, taking direction and learning new techniques.
o Prepare mise-en place (preparing ingredients) for pastry and cold recipes under the guidance of pastry chef
o Assist in special orders, custom cakes, desserts and cold items as needed.
5.Quality Control
o Ensure all pastries, baked goods and cold items meet the quality standards of the kitchen and the establishment.
o Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure the desired product quality is achieved.
- Cleaning and Maintenance
o Maintain cleanliness in the pastry section by following the kitchen's hygiene and cleaning standards.
o Regularly clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces.
