Inpatient Medical Coder

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze inpatient medical records to identify diagnoses, procedures, and relevant clinical documentation.
• Assign accurate and compliant ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient services.
• Apply official coding guidelines, payer-specific rules, and facility-specific policies.
• Ensure coding accuracy to support quality reporting, reimbursement, and compliance.
• Collaborate with providers and clinical documentation specialists to clarify ambiguous or incomplete documentation.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards established by the department.
• Stay up to date with changes in coding regulations, payer policies, and industry updates.
• Participate in continuing education, audits, and improvement initiatives as required.

Required Qualifications

• 2–3 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care hospital or similar healthcare environment.
• Valid and active CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder) and/or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) credential.
• Comprehensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding systems and inpatient coding guidelines.
• Strong understanding of DRG assignment and reimbursement methodology.
• Proficiency in EHR systems and coding software tools.
• High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and adherence to compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) processes.
• Familiarity with encoder and grouper software.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
• Ability to meet standard productivity and quality metrics.

Pay: Up to Php100,000.00 per month
