Job Description:
Performs microbiological analyses to ensure product safety and quality. Assists in the development and standardization of quality parameters, ensuring that all products meet established corporate specifications and standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
a. Performs microbiological analyses (e.g., total plate count, coliform count, E. coli count, Salmonella spp. count) on intermediate and finished products, including frozen foods, canned meat, and bottled cooked products.
b. Conducts microbiological testing for shelf-life studies and product development samples from the Research and Development Department.
c. Carries out weekly microbial evaluation of water and ice supplies.
d. Performs monthly microbial assessments of air quality within production areas.
e. Conducts weekly swab sampling and microbiological analysis of equipment surfaces, personnel, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards in compliance with GMP.
f. Prepares necessary culture media, reagents, and glassware for microbiological analyses.
g. Manages inventory control of microbiological media and glassware.
h. Leads the establishment and implementation of the company's Environmental Monitoring Program.
i. Monitors, maintains, and ensures proper functioning of laboratory equipment including refrigerators, colony counters, pH meters, incubators, pressure cookers, and analytical balances.
j. Issues advisory slips and prepares reports for products placed on hold or found to be non-conforming based on microbiological test results.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of BS Food Technology or BS Microbiology
- At least one (1) year in Food Manufacturing
- Can perform micro analysis and inspection of materials
