Fabricator / Painter

A Fabricator/Painter constructs and shapes metal or other materials, often using blueprints, and then prepares and applies protective or decorative coatings to the finished product. This role requires skills in metal fabrication (cutting, bending, welding) and painting (surface preparation, color matching, application) and involves quality control and adherence to safety standards.

Fabrication duties

• Read and interpret technical documents: Understand blueprints, drawings, and schematics to guide fabrication.
• Shape and assemble materials: Use tools like grinders, drills, and torches to cut, bend, and assemble components from materials such as metal or plastic.
• Operate machinery: Use fabrication equipment to create precise cuts, shapes, and welds.

Painting duties

• Prepare surfaces: Clean, sand, and fill holes in surfaces to ensure proper adhesion of paint.
• Mix and apply coatings: Mix and match paints and stains to client specifications and apply them using various tools.
• Protect surrounding areas: Use drop cloths and covers to protect floors, fixtures, and other areas from paint.
