Key Responsibilities- Operate excavators, backhoes, and other heavy machinery in a safe, efficient manner to complete construction tasks such as digging, trenching, and grading.
- Interpret blueprints and plans to ensure accuracy of excavation work, adhering to specified dimensions and safety standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment, reporting any issues to the maintenance team.
- Collaborate with team members, project managers, and contractors to ensure efficient workflow on-site.
- Maintain safety standards at all times, using appropriate personal protective equipment and following company safety protocols.
- Assist in other construction tasks when needed, including material handling, equipment setup, and site cleanup.
- Keep accurate records of time worked and equipment usage.
- Proven experience operating excavators or other heavy construction machinery.
- Valid excavator operator license or NC II certification.
- Ability to interpret construction blueprints and plans.
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols and practices related to heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate well with other workers and supervisors.
- Ability to perform minor maintenance on machinery and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Good physical fitness, with the ability to handle the physical demands of the job.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Additional certifications in heavy equipment operation (e.g., bulldozers, backhoes) are a plus.
- Experience in road construction or demolition, is a plus.
- First Aid/CPR certified is a plus.
