Desalination Technician

Job Summary:

The Desalination Technician is responsible for the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and repair of the desalination plant and associated equipment to ensure a continuous and reliable supply of potable water. This role ensures compliance with quality standards, safety procedures, and environmental regulations while optimizing plant efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operation & Monitoring
• Operate desalination plant systems, including reverse osmosis (RO) units, pumps, filters, and chemical dosing systems.
• Monitor equipment parameters such as pressure, flow rate, salinity, and water quality.
• Adjust system settings to maintain optimal plant performance.
• Maintenance & Repairs
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on desalination plant equipment.
• Replace membranes, filters, valves, and other critical components as needed.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues.
• Water Quality Assurance
• Conduct regular water quality testing for salinity, pH, chlorine levels, and other parameters to ensure compliance with potable water standards.
• Maintain accurate records of water quality data and operational logs.
• Safety & Compliance
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental protocols.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
• Report hazards, incidents, and equipment malfunctions promptly.
• Documentation & Reporting
• Keep detailed maintenance and operation records.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on plant operations and performance.
• Assist in preparing inventory lists for spare parts and consumables.

Qualifications:

• Technical or vocational diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in desalination plant operations or water treatment facilities.
• Knowledge of reverse osmosis systems, pumps, valves, and water testing procedures.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and P&ID diagrams.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in hot, humid, and noisy environments.
• Capable of lifting up to 25 kg.
• Willing to work in shifts, weekends, and holidays if required.

Pay: Php30, Php40,000.00 per month
