The School Nurse is responsible for managing the health and medical needs of students during school hours. This includes direct care, health assessments, managing chronic conditions, and providing health education to students and staff.
Job Description
- Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with healthcare provider instructions.
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation for all students.
- Monitor and manage chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies).
- Develop and implement individual healthcare plans (IHPs) for students as needed.
- Ensure compliance with state health regulations and school health policies.
- Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, etc.) and immunization record reviews.
- Serve as a liaison between school personnel, families, and healthcare providers.
- Promote health education and wellness initiatives within the school community.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards of practice.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Prior experience in pediatric or school nursing
