Role Overview
The Geospatial Associate (GA) is an entry-level position for interns, trainees, or recent graduates with geospatial skills like QGIS, coming from a B.Sc. education in geography, environmental sciences, geology, geomatics, agriculture, or related fields. The GA will closely support the Forest Protection team in preparing maps and geospatial information with existing datasets in QGIS on forest patrols, forest cover change, conservation values, restoration opportunities, and other related topics. This includes working with datasets on land cover, land use change, and digital terrain development using both raster and shapefiles. The GA will report to the Forest Protection Officer of the KenecoWorks team.
The position includes opportunities to participate in geospatial training with the KenecoWorks Forest Protection team and the Kennemer GIS group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support structuring geospatial databases on cloud servers such as Google Drive
- Develop maps of forest landscapes
- Develop operational maps of future & past forest patrols
- Create maps related to forest conservation and community livelihoods
- Participate in fieldwork to gather data, if necessary
Qualifications and Skills:
- Willing to be based in the Province of South Cotabato, Philippines
- Philippine passport
- B.Sc. or close to graduation in geography, environmental sciences, geology, geomatics, agriculture, or related fields
- Minimum 2 years of education in GIS and geospatial mapping
- Passion for environmental conservation and commitment to protecting natural resources
- Additional benefit: Familiarity with environments such as Google Earth Engine, R, eCognition, ENVI, ERDAS, ArcMap, etc.

Pay: Php20, Php22,000.00 per month
