Mechanical Draftsman

Creates technical designs and models for refrigeration and cold storage systems using CAD software, reviews specifications, collaborates with engineers on designs, and ensures compliance with standards. Key responsibilities include preparing detailed drawings and schematics, working from sketches, resolving design issues, and maintaining project documentation for mechanical and refrigeration systems in cold storage facilities. Essential qualifications include proficiency in CAD software (like AutoCAD), strong analytical and communication skills, and preferably experience in the HVACR or construction industries.

Key Responsibilities

Design Creation:

Use CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to create 2D and 3D technical drawings, layouts, and models for refrigeration systems and cold storage facilities.

Technical Review:

Interpret and review engineering sketches, drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to develop designs.

Collaboration:

Work with design teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to refine design concepts and incorporate feedback.

Documentation:

Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including detailed plans, technical drawings, and schematics for the cold storage project.

Problem-Solving:

On-site or remotely, resolve design development problems and suggest technical solutions.

Standards Compliance:

Ensure that all designs and models meet required industry standards, codes, and specifications for cold storage and refrigeration.

Essential Qualifications

CAD Software Proficiency:

Demonstrated proficiency in using CAD software such as AutoCAD or similar tools for drafting and modeling.

Technical Knowledge:

A strong understanding of mechanical process systems, refrigeration cycles, refrigerants, and ventilation systems is highly beneficial. Good understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PID) is a must.

Analytical Skills:

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills to address design challenges.

Communication Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with engineers and other team members.

Attention to Detail:

Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in technical drawings and project documentation.

Experience:

Preferably, 3 or more years of experience in CAD design, ideally within the construction, HVACR, or refrigeration sectors.
