EDUCATION Obtained Masters Degree in Nursing. License to practice nursing in the Philippines.

EXPERIENCE At least 5 years supervisory work experience in a tertiary level hospital

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

  1. Well-developed written and oral communication

  2. Includes a high degree of diplomacy and tact in order to elicit assistance and cooperation from others.

  3. Has the ability to persuade people to obtain desired results

  4. Skills in verbal and written communication

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  1. With proper training on : IV Therapy, Basic Life Support, Advance Cardiac Life Support and the like

  2. Demonstrates proper ability in nursing practice and administration such as planning/budgeting, organizing/staffing, directing, monitoring/controlling.

Duties and responsibilities

A. Functional Duties

  1. Carries full administrative responsibility and authority for the entire nursing services of the institution.

  2. Coordinates all the activities of the nursing service department with other services department with other services.

  3. Organized, directs, coordinates, evaluate activities of the nursing service staff which allow for satisfaction and professional growth.

  4. Defines job description for each category of nursing personnel.

  5. Interviews and screen all applicants for the nursing service and evaluates their qualifications and experiences.

  6. Participates in formulating hospital policies, in developing and evaluating program and services.

  7. Directs planning and implementation of staff development programs for different categories of nursing personnel and conducts monthly meeting for all nursing personnel.

  8. Promotes and maintain cordial relationship with patients, their families and the community and provide opportunities for nursing staff to work with other group so that the aim of the hospital can be interpreted to mean good interpersonal and interdepartmental relationship.

  9. Participates in the hospital outreach program

  10. Participates in professional meetings as the representative of the nursing service personnel, and provides for healthful living conditions of nursing personnel.

  11. Subjects to call "as the need arises"

  12. Daily ward rounds. To gain as insight to the problems and needs as presented by the patients and their families, the nurses and other health disciplines.

  13. Approves schedules of duties and off duties.

  14. Attends seminars, workshops locally and nationally as need arises.

  15. Recruits and recommends personnel for appointment, promotion or dismissal depending on staffing needs of the services.

  16. Conducts orientation to the newly hired nursing personnel, clinical instructors of different college of nursing and nursing student every each new group of exposure to the hospital.

  17. In-charge of linen department, supervises and evaluates linen clerk to the job given to her, checks and approves the segregation of condemned linen and make a purchase order for replacements. Monitoring if there is a sufficient stock on linen and coordinates with laundry agency as regard to laundry services.

  18. Performs other duties as required.

  19. COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP

B. Relationship Duties:

a. Informs the Department Head regarding problems encountered and the solutions made resolve said concerns

b. Keep the relationship and camaraderie of employees within the department intact.

c. Orients and trains new staff for Nursing Service

d. Conducts monthly meeting for Nursing Service Personnel
