The TBM Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of Tunnel Boring Machines and associated equipment. This role ensures the TBM operates efficiently and safely by conducting regular inspections, diagnosing mechanical issues, and performing both preventative and corrective maintenance in accordance with operational and safety standards.

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair TBM mechanical systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical subsystems.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, filter changes, and component inspections.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and implement timely and effective solutions to minimize machine downtime.
  • Work closely with TBM operators and engineers to monitor machine performance and anticipate issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, parts used, and repairs completed.
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations, especially in confined space and underground environments.
  • Assist in the assembly and disassembly of TBM machines at the start and end of tunneling operations.
  • Respond to emergency repair requests as needed, potentially working extended hours or shifts.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff and support departments to ensure TBM reliability.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Experience working in underground construction or tunneling projects preferred.
