Medical Coding Specialist Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced medical coding specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to patient diagnoses and procedures based on clinical documentation within electronic health records (EHR).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coding: Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to patient diagnoses and procedures.
  • Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and payer requirements; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Billing and Revenue Cycle: Work closely with billing staff to resolve coding-related claim denials and rejections; assist in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in a psychiatry or mental health setting.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Skills: Proficiency in using EHR and medical billing software; excellent attention to detail and accuracy, analytical and problem-solving skills, communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
  • Remote work arrangement required; must have a private space to work to maintain the privacy of sensitive patient information.
  • Must own laptop/computer required (i5 or higher); available to work for 15 hours per week EST.
  • Must have wired or Wi-Fi connectivity with a download speed minimum of 20.0 Mbps and upload speed minimum of 10.0 Mbps.
