Job Title

An Assistant Supervisor Procurement and Logistics is responsible for overseeing local indirect material buyers and managing the logistics process. This role focuses on supply chain responsibilities, including purchasing, supplier sourcing, contract management, and supplier relationship management for indirect material commodities.

About the Role

In this capacity, you will play a crucial part in driving the team's key performance indicators, conducting performance evaluations, optimizing processes for efficiency, and actively supporting strategic initiatives. This gives you a vital role in helping drive growth platforms and supporting operational pillars while striving for long-term value creation.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop Strategic Purchasing Strategy: Develop and implement a strategic purchasing strategy to achieve cost savings and streamlined procurement.
  • Monitor Delivery of Goods: Monitor the delivery of goods and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Handle Shipments: Handle domestic, import, and export shipment requests with timely updates.
  • Negotiate Rates: Manage RFQs for shipments, negotiate rates, and validate courier invoices.
  • Manage Permits and Assets: Renew government permits, coordinate asset disposal, and manage supplier accreditation.
  • Process Deliveries: Receive and process deliveries, update IT databases, and maintain transaction trackers.
Requirements

You must have a strong commitment to understanding customer needs, establish clear expectations, and ensure team members are accountable for their actions. You should also have a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making within the team. Additionally, you should be able to direct work efficiently by delegating tasks, offering guidance, and monitoring progress to achieve set objectives.

Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in any Business or Engineering courses; a diploma in Supply Chain is a plus.
  • Experience: At least 8 years of relevant experience in supply chain functions, preferably in purchasing and/or logistics.
  • Skills: Proficiency in overseeing concurrent projects, ensuring timely and efficient completion of each. Strong negotiation skills and a track record of securing advantageous terms, prices, and agreements to optimize organizational value.
