Job Overview

The Cloud Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of cloud-native systems and services. This individual collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain highly scalable and fault-tolerant systems that meet stringent service level agreements (SLAs). Key responsibilities include deployments, monitoring, and optimization of systems using established tools, as well as executing operations and engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports DevSecOps tools, pipelines, automation, and infrastructure-as-code scripts; continuously monitors industry trends to improve speed to market and team autonomy.
  • Executes established automation for updates and ensures seamless system maintenance.
  • Participates in incident response, root cause analysis, and drives production improvements for key issues that create business opportunities.
  • Provides guidance on enabling end-to-end availability and performance of mission-critical services to engineering and operations teams.
  • Works on building automation to eliminate waste, manual tasks, and prevent problem recurrence, responding to service alerts and condition metrics.
  • Manages Kubernetes clusters in Azure and AWS, including cluster management, upgrades, security policies, and application deployment with Argo CD in collaboration with engineering and development teams.
  • Executes infrastructure-as-code automation with Terraform and aligns tasks with projects in the operations space (upgrades, rollouts of technology, etc.).
  • Promotes a continuous improvement culture across teams and builds relationships with corporate infrastructure leads and teams.
  • Ensures security is a priority in all planning and work.
Required Skills
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure operations and engineering concepts in AWS and Azure, and IT tools (monitoring, logging, alerting, Service Now, etc.).
  • Strategic problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making ability, with a sense of urgency; demonstrated experience in a production environment.
  • Metric-driven approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Experience building, maintaining, monitoring, logging, and optimizing cloud-native solutions.
  • Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes environments (AKS/EKS), GitHub Actions libraries, and scripting (Bash, Python, etc.).
  • Cloud platform expertise in Azure and AWS.
  • DevOps tool proficiency (CI/CD, container scanning, CVE remediation, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Customer-focused approach with emphasis on establishing relationships and influencing colleagues at all levels.
  • Experience with continuous deployment and canary testing.
Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience. Typical requirement: 3 years of equivalent work experience in infrastructure and software engineering.
