Job Details

This senior accounting position requires extensive experience in US non-profit accounting, including reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
  2. Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  3. Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
  4. Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
  5. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close responsibilities and ensure team members stay on track during close.
  6. Partner with cross-functional teams across the organization to ensure optimum process and efficiency.
  7. Ensure deadlines and controls are met in accordance with policies and procedures.
  8. Manage proper deliverables to external auditors on annual audits and quarterly reviews.
  9. Lead internal audit engagements.
  10. Complete external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
  11. Avoid legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
  12. Secure financial information by completing database backups.
  13. Protect the organization's financial information.
  14. Assist with month-end close and other projects as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and more than seven years of experience in finance or accounting or a related area.
  • Extensive experience in US non-profit accounting including reporting and compliance (tax).
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS.
  • Certified Public Accountant is a plus.
  • Experience in a Big 4 firm is a plus.
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Experience developing financial reports and metrics.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with various management levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining the big picture.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects across an organization.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
